The 2nd Annual Fabulous Woman Awards

Soshanguve born award winning entrepreneur, author and philanthropist, Pontsho Manzi celebrates SA women and girls through her initiative Fabulous Woman Awards on the 02nd August 2014 at Gold Reef Casino in Johannesburg.
Pontsho Manzi founded her foundation The Fabulous Girls (FabGalz®) in 2009 to uplift and empower girls and young women of South Africa through education initiatives and exposure to various careers of their choice throughout South Africa. She is the first SA black woman to author an annual inspirational women’s diary called Diary for Fabulous You, an inspirational speaker and the publisher of Fabulous Woman Magazine.

In all her dealings and coverage of events around South Africa, Pontsho realised that no awards exist that recognise the ethical values that are embodied in her campaign for women upliftment and women unity. It is for this reason that she started the Fabulous Woman Awards in 2013 to recognise and celebrate the foundational principles of ethical womanhood. These are the first awards in South Africa that recognise both women and girls in an effort to engender the spirit of sisterhood and cross generational bonding for all women of South Africa.

The awards are aimed at honouring young women from Fabulous Girls Foundation who have shown remarkable resilience and improvement in their lives since joining FabGalz® and outstanding women in South Africa who have been nominated by other women for recognition as fabulous women.

The gala dinner also includes contributions by South African inspirational women speakers, Ms Veliswa Baduza the DG: Ministry of Women, Ms Phuti Mahannyele the CEO of Shanduka Group and Ms Angie Makwetla the chairperson of National Arts Council amongst others.

The success of the inaugural awards in 2013 held at The Venue in Melrose Arch and the difference the awards have made in the lives of young women and girls who were recognised has prompted Pontsho to grow the Fabulous Woman Awards brand to be a premier annual event for South African women and further entrench the values espoused by Fabulous Woman magazine. The awards include the following categories:

  • Fabulous Woman: Hall of Fame
  • Humanitarian Award
  • Integrity Award
  • Resilience Award
  • Pull Her Up (Sisterhood) Award
  • Woman of the Soil  Award
  • Fabulous Woman of the Year
  • Fabulous Gal of the Year

The bigger vision of the awards and gala dinner is to give these young women access to our guests in a relaxed setting for possible mentorship access opportunities or sisterly love from women who have “made-it” in their chosen careers.
The 2nd Annual Fabulous Woman Awards is supported by Tsogo Sun, Sowetan, IDC, Aquelle & Play Your Part, a Brand SA initiative.
